My big sister rang and asked us out for dinner at Sakura restaurant. She has spent her June school holidays in China and probably missed the local food so much. Although I didn't like the idea of having buffet for dinner but since she's footing the bill and in order not to spoil her mood, I said ok.
We went to the branch at the top of Clementi Wood Park. This building has been there for a long, long time, previously was a Chinese restaurant and now the Sakura international buffet restaurant. The buffet spreads over 2 floors. On the 1st floor, there are Japanese food which ranges from sushi to sashimi. Raw food like mussels, oysters, clams, etc. Asian food like noodles, veggies, cooked meat, local vegetables. Made-to-order food like satay, lamp chops, grilled dory, beef with bbq sauce and so on. You can find sushi, western BBQ, Italian Pizzas, Japanese salads and fruits/desserts on the 2nd floor.
Food and Beverage: 4.0 (the variety was there but some of the food were really a letdown!)
Ambience and Settings: 5.5
Service: 3.0 (plates kept piling on our tables and service staff weren't as attentive. Difficult to catch their attention)
Price: Adult: $26; kids below 12: $10.90 (price before GST).
Value: 3.5
Other comments: The buffet spreads over 2 floors. The biggest hassle was to walk up and down the floors for more varieties of food. Another put-off was the heavy glassdoors - how to open when you have plates on both hands!
Is this shark fin soup or 'starch' soup???
